FRAGMENTS: A series of short videos, 2-6 min each, conceived as moving paintings. I see them as vignettes or sketches that can be recreated as large-scale installations or imbedded into multimedia environments.
As with my panel paintings, the video composites are stacked with a top and bottom or side-by-side images - often colorized as a way of creating multiple meanings, addressing painterly concerns and to achieve distinction. While these vignettes may not appear related, ambiguity and contrast drive my choices both formally and from a narrative perspective. The multiple screens are designed to emphasize time and space and wide-ranging narrative readings.
